Acapulco Activities

Listed below are an array of fun-filled adventurous activities for everyone to enjoy. Enclosed in your welcome envelope will be a list of these activities and their updated prices. We have quoted some rates here for our most popular activities, but prices may change at any time.   

Acapulco Swim with Dolphins

CICI is a water park that offers the opportunity of interacting with dolphins. It is conveniently located on Acapulco's main strip on the ocean side. Swim schedules for 2001 summer season are:

Come and play with our wonderful friends the dolphins; bring your children; and children, bring your parents to share this once-in-a-lifetime encounter. CICI is a water park for all ages. There are water slides for every age group and water tobogganing, rides and best of all the chance to interact with Dolphins. It is an opportunity to share their element; touch them; and play and swim with absolute safety. CICI Waterpark is conveniently located on Acapulco´s main strip on the oceanside.

Swim sessions last for an hour and the maximum number of people allowed per session is nine. Adults and children pay $950 pesos (approx. $105 USD depending on currency exchange rate). There are a total of four activities starting with the kiss, then feeding them, getting into the water to caress them and then the grand finale is a ride around the pool on their backs! This rate includes entrance fee, a 15-minute video, a photo a complimentary drink.

Half hour sessions are also available at a cost of $530 pesos per person (approx. $59 USD) and schedules are very similar to the one-hour sessions, but with limited free time with the dolphins. This price includes entrance fee and photo.

Acapulco Mexican Folkloric Dance Show

Mexico is as varied, or more so, than the cultures of East, West, North and South of the United States. From cuisine, to language, dance and costume, Mexico is a colorful combination of fantastic culture. Experience Mexico in its most colorful form, the spectacular prehispanic-folkloric ballet. A choreographic genius of 12 talented dancers performs ancient rituals and lively folkloric dances to upbeat music and Mariachi bands every Wednesday and Friday evenings. Enjoy a sample of Mexico's delicious cuisine while taking in this unforgettable show.

Acapulco Massages and Salon Services - In your own Villa!

Inquire about our magical massages that will release the tension of a long trip to paradise. Sessions last up to 45 minutes for a cost of $35 USD per session. Several masseuse professionals can service your group at a time. They bring in their own tables and towels. You can either enjoy this experience poolside or in the privacy of your own room. Shiatsu sessions last over 1 hr and cost $150 USD. These include reflexology, flexibility and relaxation, spinal alignment, lymphatic drainage and are professionally delivered by a team of 2-3 certified therapists. Salon type services such as facials, manicures, pedicures, hairstyling, make-up and waxing are available upon request. Please advise ahead of time if these services are required.

Acapulco Bungy Jumping

A popular thrill, this jump is done from atop a manmade tower, built high above a salt water pool, right along the Costera (main strip) and the beach. A spectacular experience, jumping 143 feet into the air above cars and palm trees. You must be 7 yrs or older, at least 40 kg and be free of the following conditions: pregnancy, epilepsy, heart problems, bone problems. The AJ Hackett Bungy Company is the world leader and international pioneer in the field of personal challenge. They aim to provide thier clients with quality professional service, a high degree of innovation, and the experience gained from being instrumental in the creation and development of the bungy jumping industry. Projecting the truly memorable and exciting visual, physical and psychological experience of bungy jumping is their specialty! Qualified and experienced professionals are available to ensure that your requirements are not only met, but also exceeded. Cost is $550 pesos for the First Jump and $250 Second Jump. Fee includes T-shirt, certificate, AJ Hackett Membership card and Video.

Acapulco-La Quebrada-Acapulco Cliff Divers

"Not to be missed" heart stopping entertainment! For generations, brave young men from Acapulco have hurled themselves off the majestic cliffs jutting out over the Pacific Ocean. These fearless fellows dive into a narrow inlet where huge waves enter and crash over the rocks. The timing of their dives is crucial and must be perfectly executed due to the dangerous water conditions below. Contact the Mirador Hotel (483-1155) to reserve on the terrace of the hotel where the view is the best. Shows begin at 1:00 PM and 7:30 PM everyday and a small donation is required for viewing either from the Lookout point or from the boats that pull in to view from the sea.

AcapulcoThe San Diego Fort Tour

The San Diego Fort is historically important, because of a two year long occupancy by royal tropos at the beginning of the 19th century, until finally taken over by the opposition. The interior of the fort has recently been remodelled and adapted to host the Historical Museum of Acapulco.

The museum is comprised of 12 permanent rooms, one for temporary expositions, an auditorium, cafeteria and library. The main halls of the museum are divided into the following areas:

1.       Prehispanic México. Indian lifestyle and Spanish conquest in the region.

2.       The Chapel. Exhibits religious relics of the colonial period.

3.       Acapulco and Western Evangelization. Narrates the arrival, evangelization and sacrifice of the first Franciscans in Japan from 1597 to 1638, the date in which missionaries were expelled and total isolation began.

4.       Fort Kitchen. Shows a reconstruction of the original water distribution system through cisterns and typical foods eaten during the 18th century.

5.       The Southern Seas Conquest. A narration of the principal expeditions and develppment of the transpacific navigation during colonial times.

6.       The Manila Galeón and Navigation History. Restoration of the first commercial route, galleon descriptions, routes and problems and dangers faced by crews since the 16th century.

7.       Piracy in the Pacific. A description of typical pirate behavior, especially the most famous ones marauding the coast of Guerrero. ·

8.       Trade with the Orient. The influence of oriental art, exchange of artefacts and supplies, among other things with the Spanish culture.

9.       The Independence. Two halls are dedicated to depicting Guerrero's role in the War for Independence.

10.   Arquitectonic History of the Fort. Describes the detailed history of the Fort and the importance of its design for protecting the bay.

The San Diego Fort is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 AM to 4:40 PM and an admission fee is required. Av. Costera Miguel Aleman and Hornitos (across from the Maritime Terminal.)

Acapulco-The Zocalo

The main public plaza in town. This is a center of family activity and strolling about especially on Sunday's. You may find a band concert at the music gazebo on Sunday afternoons and the traditional balloon man is always a hit with the kids. Stores and small restaurants surround this charming plaza and the Acapulco Garden Club has done a beautiful job with the landscaping.

Acapulco Cathedral on the Palace

This church is a lovely example of Acapulco's history with Spanish, Moorish and native influences. It's distinctive sky blue domes dominate the downtown plaza. Step inside this cool and quiet church and admire the collection of religious statues. Saturday's are a good day to peek in on local weddings and baptisms as these events are a window into Mexican life.

Acapulco Convention Center

A busy place where conventions take place, large television shows are staged and taped, this is the home of the Acapulco Philarmonic Orchestra and the famous Acapulco Music Festival is hosted here. The huge garden areas boast a large variety of tropical plants and palms. The entrance has an attractive water fountain display and there is a tourist assistance office on the premises.
